We always feel like we’ve got to be rational about things instead of just actually doing it for pure enjoyment

The Beauty of the Irrational - Ultra-Runner Ryan SandesFrom South African independent film company The African Attachment comes this outstanding short film, The Beauty of the Irrational, which follows South Africa Ultra-Runner Ryan Sandes as he returns to Namibia’s Fish River Canyon to run the 84km, Fish River Canyon Hiking Trail in the fastest time possible. While it takes most hikers 3-5 days, Ryan Sandes completed his self-supported run in only 6 hours and 57 minutes, setting a new record.

Located in the south of Namibia, the Fish River Canyon is the second largest canyon in the world and the largest in all of Africa. The canyon features a massive ravine, measuring 160km in length and up to 27km in width and nearly 550 meters deep in some areas.
