Zaanse Schans is a charming little Dutch village located along the Zaan river bank in Zaanstad. I have been to Zaanse Schans many times, and although it was nice and sunny , it could also be very windy, which is probably why they chose this location for their windmills.

There are a few windmills along a path, and almost all of them were actually turning. A couple of them are oilmills, a couple are sawmills, and I think there is one mustardmill.

Glorious sunsets can be captured from the entrance of Zaanse Schans and with no tourists visitors around after 8pm it is just perfect.
