Yosemite National Park’s Tunnel View – Cloud-wrapped El Capitan with sun-lit hill trees below seeming to enjoy the view.

After three days there enjoying sun-filled day but without clouds, I hoped for a bit of drama in the skies before I left. I woke up to news of unexpected snow and hail storms approaching, on May 25, and decided it’d be good to go on up to Tunnel View to catch any clearings in the storm as those can be very picturesque (as Ansel Adams showed in his famous “Clearing Winter Storm”).

In the 5+ hours there during times of near invisibility, I was able to see, intermittently, some amazing scenes, including some snow suddenly atop Cathedral Rocks and Bridal Veil Fall a few weeks short of Summer.

This shot focused on a moment when the normally granitic El Capitan seemed softened by the clouds surrounding it and the mist hanging in the air – giving me the impression of a watercolor.
