This photo of Swiftcurrent Lake was taken while hiking around the edge to start a trek to spot a grizzly bear, which are common in the hills around the lake. It was a cold but sunny day in September, but annoyingly I got pretty wet feet while trying to get the right angle!
Behind the beautiful waters of Swiftcurrent Lake, the 7,600 foot Grinnell Point peak seems to dominate the landscape. While many visitors to the Many Glacier area within Glacier National Park make the assumption that Grinnell Point is one of the highest peaks, it is actually the second lowest summit in the region, despite its intimidating profile.
