Dune Inside, Kolmanskop, Namibia
Photograph by Arlette Leboucq
I was traveling by car from South Africa on a last minute desert adventure! To see such a beautiful ghost town was a fantastic experience for me. I was inspired by someone I know who had been there and took some wonderful images.
Kolmanskop is an abandoned diamond mining town in the Namib Desert near the coast of southern Namibia, a few miles from the port town of Lüderitz. With the remains of several homes and a few commercial establishments, Kolmanskop is a popular destination for photographers, who often have to crawl into the buildings through the windows to photograph the sand-filled rooms.
