I took this photograph on January 2nd this winter from the trail to Lobuche on the way to Everest Base Camp. We crossed blue-ice on Cho La pass (5370 m) from Gokyo valley to Khumbu the next day after New Year’s and stopped for a night in the small settlement of Dzongla (4800 m, in the center of picture), which is located in a picturesque place with nice view to the east of Ama Dablam (6812 m) and exists only to support trekkers crossing the Cho La pass. The most prominent mountain is Cholatse (6440 m), whose north face dominates over Dzongla.
