Colorful Mountains, between Tabriz and Ahar, Iran
Photograph by Ali Shokri
On the 25km road between the cities of Tabriz and Ahar in northwestern Iran, one can see these strikingly colorful hills. This area of badlands are about 1,500 meters about sea level, but these weathered hills are all under 100 meters. The region’s water is salty and undrinkable and the climate is warm and dry.
