Adventure Travel Photo of the Day: Hosmer Lake, Oregon

Sunset Canoeing on Hosmer Lake, Deschutes National Forest, Oregon, Oregon

Hosmer is a gem of a lake. It sits high in the Oregon Cascades to the West of Mt Bachelor and just South of the Three Sisters Wilderness. Motor boats are not permitted and the water is crystal clear. It’s not uncommon to see Ospreys and Bald Eagles. We set off at dusk – and enjoyed a great sunset. But the real show comes later. There are no street lights for 30 miles in any direction. The Milky Way just lights up the sky.

  1. Amazing photography!

  2. What a great shot, nothing like canoeing on a beautiful lake at sunset in the wilderness with no cars around to disturb the sounds of nature.
