Two one year old Pandas relaxing while eating bamboo. The panda lives in a select few mountain ranges in central China, mainly in the province of Sichuan, but also in Gansu and Shaanxi provinces. While the panda once lived in lowland areas as well, deforestation, farming, and human development has driven the panda out of much of its native habitat. Listed as an endangered species, it is believed that only between 1,500 and 3,000 pandas remain in the wild, while 266 are kept in captivity around the world.
