Hvítserkur is a mass of igneous rock intruded into a fissure in older rock, about 15 metres high, situated on the seashore at the base of the western part of Hrútafjördurfjord. Sea ravens and fulmars live on Hvítserkur. An old story has it that Hvítserkur is a petrified troll that intended to stone Þingeyrarklaustur cloister, but dawn arrived before he could succeed.
