We were lucky enough to witness some very early Auroras over the Abisko Mountain Lodge on March 1st. The skies were clear with only wispy clouds interfering come night time. As soon as the stars started to appear the Aurora showed her face. She was off and on all night but nothing compared to the early show!

This was the result of a Coronal High Speed stream that started buffeting the Earth on February 28th. Geomagnetic storms were present the following day but I pretty much caught the last remnants of it on this evening.

A short display, but a very beautifully active one nonetheless and I am so happy to have been witness to it. This was shot with a Nikon D700, Nikon 14-24mm @ 14mm, ISO1600, 5 sec exposure, f2.8
