Celestial, Fort Smith, Northwest Territories, Canada
Photograph by Thomas Koidhis
Very low clouds sweeping in from the northwest over the warm tungsten lighting of the small town of Fort Smith creates this very dramatic effect, with the camera positioned about 15-20 km southeast of the town facing the direction of the light. Because I was far enough away from town light, I still had a very dark sky, but since the low clouds so strongly reflected the light, it appears to be positively on fire.
Great effect. What was your setup?
Hey Andy…Thanks 🙂 I had a Canon 5D mk II with a 24-105 f.4L attached all mounted on a Gitzo tripod.
beautiful! I love milky way exposures must try it sometime! Great sky and composition with the treeline silhouette.
Thanks so much Natalia! Much appreciated…You definitely should shoot a few of your own.
