When people complain that America is too crowded, that there is nowhere to escape from the mad rush of the big cities, I laugh to myself and think of all the countless places I’ve been just like this, where you can drive for miles without passing a single car and where the vast expanses of earth and sky stretch endlessly over the horizon. Theirs may be a nation of smog and congestion, but mine is a nation of wilderness and solace.
This is the America that I know and love.
