Enchanted Peaks, Ama Dablam, Khumbu, Nepal
Photograph by Paul Zizka
I recently came home with a lot of images of beautiful Ama Dablam. Here is one of my favourites so far. A 30 second exposure was used to breathe some life and motion into a visiting cloud. I thought the flutings on the mountainside were absolutely incredible.
Ama Dablam is located in the Himalaya Range of eastern Nepal. The main peak is 22,349 feet (6,812 meters) and the lower western peak is 18,251 feet (5,563 meters). Climbers Mike Gill and Wally Romanes of New Zealand, Mike Ward of the UK, and Barry Bishop of the US made the first ascent of Ama Dablam on March 13, 1961, taking the Southwest Ridge.
Wow, truly a stunning photograph. I normally am not keen on black & white, but for this picture it is perfect. Nicely done!
