I took this shot on an early morning in the French Alps and chose to convert it to black and white.
To me, Ibex are the mountain kings!
Also known as the steinbock, the Alpine Ibex is a strictly herbivorous wild goat species that lives in the mountains of the European Alps. Typically dwelling in steep, rugged terrain above the snow line, ibex were extirpated from much of their habitat by the 19th century. Every ibex living today is descended from the stock in Gran Paradiso National Park in northern Italy, which was used to reintroduce the species back into its traditional range throughout Europe.
