The great outdoors can be beautiful and awe-inspiring, but sometimes it can also be very strange and unusual too. On a winter day above North Florida’s famous Suwannee River, thousands of vultures circled in the sky overhead – a truly unusual (and rather ominous) sight! Nature is the perfect source for inspiration when it comes to finding unusual things to photograph – we hope to see lots of creativity in this challenge as you use your photography skills to capture the unusual!

On Wednesday, January 2nd (at 2pm EST, so be sure to submit your entries before that time!) we’ll choose 1 judge’s choice winner, 5 runner ups, and 1 audience choice winner & share their entries here on! Send your friends to this page to leave a comment-vote for your entry to win the audience choice award!

You have certainly found the unusual (and the exotic) in your great shots. I did not get to Brisbane on my trip to AU several years ago. I want to go now!
